Every year, May 18 is celebrated worldwide International Museum Day. This year, the International Museum Day is devoted to the theme "Museums and a controversial history: let's talk about complex issues."

This is reported on the website of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). This year, the theme emphasizes the role of museums in the life of society and notes that museums have become a center of propaganda for the world among people.

On the International Day of Museums, the entrance of citizens and foreigners temporarily residing in the country to the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi will be free.

The International Museum Day was established in 1977 on the initiative of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The day of museums is arranged to demonstrate to the public the role of museums in the development of society.
