A seminar session with the participation of schoolchildren at the Institute of Dendrology

A seminar session with the participation of students of Baku Turkish Diyanet Vakfi lyceum was held at the Institute of Dendrology of ANAS by Public Association "Youth and Enlightenment".

The event was implemented within the framework of "Introduction to the Public Alert System on Biological Diversity on the base of ecological, biological and food security" project which won the grant competition of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2017.

At the seminar, the head of the Public Association "Youth and Enlightenment", Ph.D. in Biology Vagif Amikishiyev noted that the main purpose of such events is to shape the world outlook of schoolchildren by conducting educational work among them.

The deputy director on scientific work of the Institute of Dendrology, Dostor of biological sciences Zumrud Mammadova informed the students about the history of the establishment, directions of the institute's activities, and also about the park garden created here.

The schoolchildren who got acquainted with the house of Murtuza Mukhtarov and brought information about the building designed in the Gothic style in the form of a ship. The total garden area of the Institute of Dendrology is 12 hectares.

At the event, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Institute Tunzala Zeyvalieva, the head of the Laboratory "Herbarium and Seed Growing" Minara Hasanova and the experts of the Union told schoolchildren about the rich flora of our country, factors affecting biodiversity, agrobiodiversity and its importance, the role of wildlife in nature and in Human life, projects implemented to protect and enrich the biodiversity of the Caucasus region.

In conclusion, environmental games and trainings covering various topics were organized for schoolchildren.
