Correspondent member of ANAS Aliadin Abbasov is 65

August 1 marks the 65th anniversary of the famous scientist of our country in the field of studying sorption processes, director of the Institute of Natural Resources of the Nakhchivan Branch, correspondent member of ANAS Aliaddin Abbasov.

Aliaddin Deyyan oglu Abbasov was born on August 1, 1952 in the village of Bananyar, Djulfa District, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In 1969 he graduated from secondary school with a gold medal, and in 1974 entered the chemical faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (currently the Baku State University).

Starting his career as a teacher of chemistry in secondary schools in the villages of Bananyar and Khanaga of the Djulfa district, A. Abbasov continued his education at the graduate school of the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences in 1977-1993.

In 1987, he defended his Ph.D., in 2008 - his doctoral dissertation, and in 2014 was elected a corresponding member of ANAS.

In 1993-2002 he worked as the head of the Science Center of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. Since 2003, after the creation of the Nakhchivan branch of ANAS, the scientist is the head of the Natural Resources Institute of the department.

The basis of A.Abbasov's scientific activity is sorbents of various character, the nature of their functional groups, kinetics, dynamics and thermodynamics of sorption processes, development and preparation of scientific bases of regeneration. He conducts systematic fundamental research in the field of studying the synthesis of inorganic sorbents, the mechanisms of the influence of their functional groups, as well as the effect of their composition and structure on the efficiency of sorption. The most important result of the researches of the scientist was the determination of the connection between the selectivity of sorption and the kinetic abilities of the sorbents.

The range of scientific interests of the scientist-chemist is not limited only to the processes of sorption. He achieved success in the field of studying the mineral resources of Nakhchivan on the basis of a grant from the Foundation for the Development of Science under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Using the various methods of A.Abbasov, the total composition of the ore of the Gumushli deposit is established, the optimal ore flotation regime is determined by using the main useful components of the ore, and so on.

Along with scientific creativity corresponding member of ANAS A.Abbasov is engaged in pedagogical activity. He lectures at the Nakhchivan State University on Analytical Chemistry and Surface Phenomena. He delivered scientific reports in more than 10 international congresses and symposia.

Fundamental and applied research of the scientist is reflected in more than 160 scientific works. His works are referred to in international journals. He is also a member of the editorial board of the journal “News” (series of natural and technical sciences) of the Nakhchivan branch of ANAS.

For his fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity A.Abbasov was awarded with Honorary Diplomas of the Presidium and Nakhchivan Department of ANAS.

We congratulate the scientist-chemist on his 65th birthday and wish him success in his further scientific work!
