Since August, the international Azerbaijan-France archaeological expedition has started its activity, conducting research in the monuments belonging to the era of the Eneolithic.
The purpose of the studies conducted under the guidance of ANAS corresponding member Veli Bakhshaliyev and the researcher of the Center for Scientific Research of France, as well as the Center for the Study of the Mediterranean and the East of Lumière University Lyon-2, the well-known archaeologist Dr. Catherine Marron, is to study the formation of ancient agricultural culture, Ancient man with the environment, as well as determining the directions of cultural and economic ties.
ANAS corresponding member V.Bakhshaliyev noted that, the discovery of the first day of research work of the settlement, which belongs to the early Aeneolith, aroused great interest. According to the archaeologist, in the settlement along with ceramic products there were also painted vessels. Samples of material culture make it possible to study the connections of ancient settlers of our country with the Middle East, and also to determine the stages of the consecutive development of the Eneolithic epoch. Parts of the identified samples of material culture are tools from obsidian. Currently, research continues.
V. Bakhshaliyev said that, samples of material culture found during the excavations will be investigated not only by Azerbaijani scientists, but also by specialists from France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Hungary and Austria.
