Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On September 21, Presidium of ANAS hosted a roundtable on Azerbaijani-Chinese relations.

Academician Akif Alizadeh, the President of ANAS, accepted the delegation led by academician Wang Weiguang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

Vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, academician-secretary, academician Rasim Alguliev, head of the Department of Science and Education, correspondent member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov and head of International Relations Office of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in biology Esmira Alirzayeva attended the meeting. .

Informing the guests about the history of the academy and its main directions of activity, president of ANAS said that the 70th anniversary of the academy was highly celebrated in 2015.

Academician A.Alizade, who informed about the ANAS High Technology Park established by President Ilham Aliyev's order dated November 8, 2016, said that the goal is to promote innovation and high technologies based on contemporary scientific and technological achievements and to promote sustainable development and competitiveness of the economy.

A.Alizadeh also informed about the master's degree organized for the first time in the Academy since 2015. The main goal is to attract young people to the scientific environment and to increase their scientific thinking, and those who study at the academy's Master's degree will be able to practice in scientific laboratories after bachelor's degree. The necessary conditions were created for raising the level of scientific and research skills of the Azerbaijani youth and training of professional specialists, President of ANAS noted.

Then A.Alizade presented to Chinese guests the atlas of world mud volcanoes prepared by Azerbaijani specialists. He noted that studies have been conducted for many years in our country to study volcanoes and more than 3,000 volcanoes have been categorized worldwide.

The sides spoke about the history of Chinese-Azerbaijani relations and stressed the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, which covers economic, political, scientific and cultural spheres. Existing relations between the scientific centers of the two countries and future development priorities were also discussed.

Then a round table with the participation of employees of the Institute of Economics of ANAS started.

Speaking at the event, academician Wang Weiguang informed about the carried out scientific researches and projects implemented in his organization. Noting that they are interested in cooperation between ANAS and CASS, and it is expedient to exchange staff and experience in the relevant field.

W.Weiguang spoke about the possibilities of cooperation in humanitarian sciences, information technology, geology and archeology. He said he was ready to render the necessary assistance to study the Chinese experience in the field of science.

Later, academician Isa Habibbeyli talked about historical relations between Azerbaijan and China for many years. Stressing that the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has yielded positive results, the scientist proposed the creation of the Azerbaijani division to the CASS for the promotion of our country as a continuation of these relations. He also stressed the need for strengthening the activity of the Chinese Center.

At the end Akif Alizade presented memorable gifts to the guests.
