Archaeological expedition "Naftalan-Goranboy" of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS completed archeological researches in the territory of Geranboy and Naftalan.

As a result of the research, four burial mounds were found on the territory Naftalan, more than 30 mounds and two medieval settlements on the territory of the Geranboy region. Archaeological research continues in the early necropolis of Tatarly Munjutlu tepe in the territory of Goranboy region. Necropolis was recorded in 2007 by the leading researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, assistant professor Muzaffar Huseynov, in the following years were investigated eight tombs. This year, in the necropolis, four graves were brought to the archaeological research.

The expedition also conducted preliminary studies on the multi-layered settlement of Garachinar of the Garachinar village of Goranboy region. In this settlement were found and attracted to the study samples of material culture, relating to all periods of the Bronze Age.
