At the meeting of the Scientific Council of ANAS Institute Literature after Nizami Ganjavi were discussed the final results of the concept in connection with the periodization of Azerbaijani literature.

At the event, ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute, Academician Isa Habibbayli, spoke in detail about the concept, which he is the author. The scientist noted that, one of the main tasks facing modern Azerbaijan literary criticism is the preparation of a scientific classification of the system periodization of the way of development of the centuries-old history of national literature. He stressed that, need for a fundamental periodization of the path of the centuries-old development of national literature from a scientific and theoretical point of view arose after Azerbaijan gained its state independence.

Academician I.Habibbeyli noted, the importance of developing a scientific concept in connection with the periodization of the history of Azerbaijani literature from the point of view of not reflecting the realities of literary and historical processes by the periodization of the history of Russian literature conducted on the basis of the former Soviet ideology, and also the inconsistency of this periodization with the principles of the period of independence and national ideology.

The scientist noted that, in academic publications on the history of Azerbaijani literature, textbooks, monographic research, written and published by individual authors or authors' groups, it is clearly noticeable that it is impossible to move away from the stages of periodization established in the past.

The vice-president of ANAS stressed the necessity of periodization of the history of Azerbaijani literature in the light of the ideals of state independence, the creation of a unified system and the recording of literary and historical processes taking place in the world.

At the meeting, an exchange of views and a broad discussion took place around the concept of a new periodization of Azerbaijani literature. Corresponding member of ANAS Tehran Mustafayev, Professors Asif Rustamly, Bedirkhan Ahmedov, Tahir Mammad, Shirindil Alyshanli, Imamverdi Hamidov, Mammad Aliyev, Ph.D. in Philology, Nikpur Jabbarli spoke about the great significance of this concept.
