ANAS held Astro seminar on modern basic sciences

Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory after Nasiraddin Tusi (ShAO) held next international Astro seminar at ANAS Main Building on November 7.

Director of the observatory, correspondent member of ANAS Namig Jalilov said that, the seminar is devoted to the topic "Modern fundamental sciences: new discoveries and perspectives". Speaking about this topic, Director of the Institute informed about the scientific activity of Alikram Aliyev, Professor of the Research Institute of Fundamental Sciences of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).

Further, Professor Alikram Aliyev, presenting his report, gave information on the importance, areas of application of the basic sciences, as well as discoveries that changed the world. He noted that, fundamental sciences, theoretical and mathematical methods, as well as observations and experiments contribute to the disclosure of the secrets of the universe. The scientist stressed that, the main driving force of this science, first formed by scientists of the East, is intellectual interest.

A.Aliyev noted that, fundamental sciences continue their studies related to the nature and the Universe to this day, and in the last 5 years important achievements have been achieved in this area. The speaker also talked about Quantum Mechanics, the Large Hadron Accelerator (CERN-LHC), the European Planck satellite, including the US LIGO Observatory.

At the end of his speech, the scientist said that, in the structure he leads, he will be able to render all possible assistance to Azerbaijani youth who wish to conduct research in the field of basic sciences.
