Institute of Zoology held cytogenetic research on reptiles

At the Laboratory of Vertebrate of dry land of ANAS Institute of Zoology have been started studies cytogenetic on reptiles for the first time.

The goal of the research is a comparative study of the karyotype of individuals of isolated populations. Also, have been analyses of cytogenetic differences between species multiplying by partogenetic pathways and forming hybrid individuals.

The first, researches under the Direction of Doctor of Biological Sciences Giyas Guliyev were conducted on the Caucasian Agama (Paralaudakia caucasia), caught in the Julfa region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Caucasian lizard (Darevskia caucasica) and the Dagestan lizard (Darevskia daghestanica) caught in the Guba region.

Note that, the chromosome preparations were made from red bone marrow using the modified method of J.E.Ford and J.L.Hamerton.
