International Conference on "Chemistry of Coordination Compounds: Actual Problems of Analytical Chemistry" dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the famous chemist, Chevalier of the Order "Shohrat", Honored Scientist, Academician Rafiga Aliyeva launched at the Baku State University (BSU) on November 16.

Opening the conference, Rector of BSU, Academician Abel Maharramov noted that, a well-known chemist Rafiga Aliyeva, devoted most of her life to preparing specialized staff at the University, was the first woman Academician in the field of analytical chemistry in Azerbaijan, she went down in history as the author a number of scientific discoveries.

Touching upon some moments of Academician Rafiga Aliyeva’s life and activity, Rector noted that, the scientist had invested all her knowledge and skills in the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of chemistry.

The researches of a scientist who for more than half a century were engaged in scientific and pedagogical activity were devoted to determining the relationship between the parameters characterizing analytical reactions and the structures of complex compounds. The works of Rafiga Aliyeva, connected with pressing environmental problems, have made a significant contribution to the sustainable development of our country. Academician Rafig Aliyev is the author of 2 monographs, 33 textbooks and teaching aids, 20 patents and more than 520 articles.

Dean of the chemical faculty of Moscow State University after M.V.Lomonosov, Academician Valeriy Lunin, ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, Academician Dilgam Tagiyev, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Aslan Jaladzeh, Head of the Chair of Ecological Chemistry of BSU, Professor Sevij Hajiyeva brought to the attention that, Rafiga Aliyeva applied all her knowledge and skills to the training of highly qualified personnel, bringing her deep knowledge and rich experience to the future generation and thus created a large scientific school.

After the reports, sectional sessions started. During the five sectional sessions 182 scientific reports of participants from 11 countries will be listened.

The conference will last until November 18.
