Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Academy — the name of the scientific organizations, and also educational institutions.

“Academy” – the word with the Greek origin.

The school founded by Platon in the 380th years BC near Athens in the district, called in honor of mythical hero Akadem was called as academy.

Since then all schools of sciences and other educational institutions were called by “Academy”.
