Barrows has been discovered in Masalli region

As a result of the reconnaissance researches of the leading researcher of ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, PhD in History, Associate Professor Anar Agalarzadeh at the foothills of the Talish Mountains located near Badalan-Khanalion village of Masalli region, burial monuments of the Kurgan type were discovered.

The diameter of these barrows covered with earth is 45-50 m and the preserved height of the top cover reaches 4-5 m. Funeral monuments, laid at an altitude of about 870 meters above sea level are found on rare occasions in the village. The mounds are located in the east-west direction.

A.Agalarzadeh noted that, according to the preliminary version monuments belong to the end bronze - to the beginning of the iron period, i.e. by the end of II - the beginning of 1st millennium B.C. It has been reported that, the barrows of the bronze-early Iron Age kept in the southern region of Azerbaijan allow keeping track of spiritual culture and funeral traditions of societies of a primitive-communal system of that period. The scientist has noted that barrows are of great importance for obtaining data about social and economic, the public relations and economic life of ancient tribes of the bronze-early iron period. "In spite of the fact that stone barrows are characteristic of mountain zones of the southern region, in foothill and flat regions soil barrows prevail. All these differences it is distinct are visible in an area where monuments are located".
