China – Beijing with the organizational support of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held international scientific symposium on "China's development in the context of a changing world".

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani-Asian Literary Relations of the Literature Institute after Nizami Ganjavi, Professor Badirkhan Ahmadov, coordinator of the Academy in China, lecturer at Peking University of Foreign Languages, Ph.D. in Philology, Agshin Aliyev.

First, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Academician Wang Weiguang spoke about the importance of the symposium and the strengthening of scientific cooperation between countries.

He noted that, the purpose of the event was to prepare for the establishment of a World Center for Research in China. He stressed the importance of establishing a common center to support the work of foreign centers involved in Sinology.

Speaking at the event, Academician Isa Habibbayli spoke about the history of the Azerbaijani-Chinese relations, in particular, the positive influence on the development of these links of the historical Silk Road. The scientist informed about the great interest shown in our country in relation to China since ancient times, the important role of Azerbaijan in the development of relations between China and the Caucasus.

I.Habibayli also touched upon the role of the visits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to China in the development of bilateral relations and noted that during these visits documents were signed that gave impetus to the expansion of cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Academician I.Habibbayli noted that, in recent years scientific exchange between the two countries has acquired an intensive character, as a result of which friendly relations between our countries have expanded.

It was noted that in accordance with the agreement on the development of scientific and literary relations with the Confucius Institute of China, the Institute of Sinology was established at the Institute, the Institute's staff began to actively participate in seminars, symposiums and conferences organized in China, Chinese scientists make frequent visits to the institute, joint projects are being implemented.

Noting that, the newly opened Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will connect Europe with Asia, functions as the "Iron Silk Road", Vice-President of ANAS said that, this project is an integral part of the strategy "One belt, one way". Academician expressed his confidence that the strategy "One belt, one way" will create great opportunities for expanding cooperation not only in the field of economy, but also in the spheres of science and education.

The report by Professor B. Ahmadov on "Traces of the Silk Road in Azerbaijani Literature" was listened at the symposium.

Then, the delegation of Azerbaijan held a number of business meetings. At a meeting with the President of the Academy of Social Sciences of China, Academician Wang Weiguang, issues of developing links between the scientific institutions of our countries were discussed.

Within the framework of the meeting held under the leadership of Peking University of Foreign Languages, issues of scientific and educational ties between the two countries were touched upon. It was stressed that, teaching the Azerbaijani language in China and the Chinese language in Azerbaijan will contribute to the expansion of ties between the two countries.

Vice-Rector of the University Sun Yochun informed about the activities of the organization he leads. He particularly emphasized the support of Azerbaijani educational institutions, in particular, the Baku State University in teaching the Azerbaijani language in China.

During the visit, the delegation visited the monument of the genius Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi, erected in the Chaoyang Park of Beijing and held meetings at the embassy of our country in China.

In an interview with Academician I.Habibbeyli, given to the CCTV13 news channel of China Central Television, it was said about cooperation between the two countries in various spheres, the role of the recently laid railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars in providing railway connections between Europe and Asia.
