More than 100,000 Turkic-language sources are protected in Central Scientific Library

The Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has presented the Turkic sources, protected in their funds.

Representatives of embassies of Turkic-speaking countries, institutes of ANAS and representatives of higher educational institutions took part in the event.

Director of CSL, Doctor of Medical Sciences Leyla Imanova spoke about the work done to enrich the library's funds. She pointed out that the most ancient and unique books were collected in the country's information resources and the number of Turkic language sources reached 100,000.

Emphasizing the importance of these resources in the academic libraries of the Turkic states, L. Imanova stressed the importance of the CSL initiative to establish the Association of Academics of the Turkic-speaking Countries, and the importance of unifying the electronic catalogs of documents. L. Imanova noted that libraries should systematize their funds in a digital format, in a common system, at the level of modern requirements. An international-style electronic catalog will be prepared within the National Digital Memory project.

Abdulgafur Buyukfırat, Education Adviser of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, stressed that he valued reading culture, and showed interest in science in Azerbaijan. He highly appreciated the initiative of the Central Scientific Library staff, which demonstrated activity in promoting Turkic world information.

Teacher of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts Mubariz Suleymanli, professor of Baku State University Sevda Suleymanova, member of the board of Azerbaijan Press Council Azer Hasret and others emphasized the importance of promoting these sources.
