Head of the Department of Theoretical Problems of Hydrodynamics of Well Systems, Institute of Oil and Gas, corresponding member of ANAS, prominent Azerbaijani geologist Garib Jalalov marked the 80th anniversary on November 28.

Jalalov Garib Isag oglu was born on November 28, 1937 in the village of Bash Geynyuk in the Sheki district. In 1955 he graduated from the secondary school of the village of Bash Geynyuk and entered the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of the Azerbaijan State University. Having completed his education in the field of "Fluid and gas mechanics", in 1960, he was sent to the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences, as a junior researcher.

In the years 1960-2003 he held the posts of junior researcher, senior researcher, head of the Department of Electrical Modeling of the Oil Layer and Investigation of Reservoirs. Since 2003 he worked as Head of the Hydrodynamics Department of the Seams at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS. At present he is the head of the Department of Theoretical Problems of Hydrodynamics of Well Systems in the Institute of Oil and Gas of ANAS. At the same time, he carries out pedagogical activities at the Department of Geology of Oil and Gas Fields of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.

In 1967, defending his thesis "Problems of the process of watering wells, taking into account their non-uniformity and heterogeneity of the reservoir," received a Ph.D. in Physical and Mathematical sciences. And in 1990, after defending the thesis on "Hydrodynamics of the development of oil and gas deposits in deformable reservoirs," became a doctor of technical sciences. In 2001 he was elected as corresponding member of ANAS in the specialty "Development of oil and gas fields".

Garib Jalalov is a well-known scientist in various fields of underground hydrodynamics and development of oil and gas fields.

By averaging the random distribution of permeability along the elements of the area of the productive deposit, scientists have been offered a mathematical model of an inhomogeneous formation. At the same time, a single method for solving fluid filtration problems has been developed for a system of perfect and imperfect wells. The regularizing methods for solving the inverse problem on the identification of the parameters of deformable layers have been developed on the basis of the interpretation of the results of hydrodynamic studies of the seams at an unsteady filtration regime. The problems characterizing the flow of carbonated liquid in deformable porous media are solved. Taking into account the influence of inelastic deformation of reservoir reservoirs on absolute permeability and porosity, a numerical algorithm for solving the problem was developed, a computer program was developed and multivariate calculations were performed to determine the pressure, oil saturation and the character of changes in well production from time to point in the environment. The scientist is the author of 250 scientific works, including 5 monographs.

G.Jalalov has great merit in the training of highly qualified engineers and scientific personnel. Under his leadership, 1 doctor of sciences, 12 doctors of philosophy on the development and operation of oil and gas fields were trained.

For his services in the development of Azerbaijani science G.Jalalov was awarded the Academician I.Gubkin Prize, Shokhrat Order and the Veteran of Labor medal, in 1997 and 2007 the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of ANAS.
