ANAS Nakhchivan Division held interactive lesson on "Foundations of Classical Genetics" organized for 203 secondary schools of the Autonomous Republic.

Interactive lesson was conducted by employee of the Institute of Bioresources of the Division, Doctor of Agrarian Sciences Varis Guliyev.

It was noted that, genetics is a science that studies heredity and variability and narrates about the preservation of hereditary information and its transfer to future generations. Genetics occupies one of the main places among biological disciplines. Modern genetics studies heredity and variability, based on the achievements of zoology, botany, breeding, plant growing, livestock and other branches of biology. Genetic research has greatly enriched the theoretical spheres of biology, as well as zootechnics, veterinary science, selection of farm animals, plant breeding and medicine. Growing the cells of viruses, bacteria, fungi, plants and animals on the side and studying their nucleic acids makes it possible to establish the patterns of the influence of genes in the process of vital activity.

Varis Guliyev in detail informed the students about the history of development and methods of researching genetics, conventional signs used in this field of science, basic genetic terms, and G.Mendel's laws.
