ANAS main building held the scientific session on "Results of archaeological and ethnographic research conducted in Azerbaijan in 2017" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the 1st Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, a prominent scientist and corresponding member of ANAS Arif Abbasov on December 27.
At the event, ANAS Vice-President, academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the invaluable merits of the late scientist in the development of archeology and ethnography. It was said that, the founder of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Arif Abbasov, represented our country with dignity at influential events held in foreign countries. He worked hard in the field of propaganda of Azerbaijani science in the world. The research work carried out by the late scientist is still relevant today.
Academician I.Habibbeyli highly appreciated the scientific activity of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography in 2017.
Then, Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Maisa Ragimova delivered a report "Arif Abbasov - the first director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography." She spoke about the life, scientific researches of Arif Abbasov, as well as his role in the development and transformation of archeology and ethnography in accordance with the calls during the period of independence in Azerbaijan. It was stressed that paying attention to the development of Azerbaijani science was one of the priorities of the successful policy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. At present, President Ilham Aliyev continues to honor this policy with dignity.
