Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Ministry of Emergency Situations and ANAS held the scientific and practical conference on "Azerbaijan Republic – heritor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic".

The event, which was held at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Deputies of Minister for Emergency Situations, Lieutenant-General of the Medical Service Faig Taghizadeh and Lieutenant-General Etibar Mirzaev, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, heads of institutes and scientists took part at the event.

First, the conference participants laid flowers to the monument to the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the courtyard of the academy and got acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Center and the museum functioning in this structure.

The conference began with the national anthem of Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, Lieutenant-General Etibar Mirzayev recalled that on April 11, presidential elections were held in our country, and Ilham Aliyev, having received the largest number of votes, was again elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Further Etibar Mirzaev noted that, being the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, founded on May 28, 1918, became one of the glorious pages of our history. The deputy minister added that the decree of the national leader on holding the 80th anniversary of the ADR, President Ilham Aliyev's decree on holding the 90th and 100th anniversaries of the ADR, including the announcement of the year 2018 as the "Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" testify to the country's deep respect for this historical fact.

Then, Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli noted that, the great leader Heydar Aliyev was always faithful to the traditions of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which today are duly continued by AR President Ilham Aliyev. He stressed that, the study of the historical heritage of ADR and statesmen was carried out on the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Today, the head of state, Ilham Aliyev, keeps under control the continuation of these works.

Then, the conference listened the reports of the Director of the Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov on "The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - a bright page of the history of our statehood", director of the Institute of the History of Science, professor Maryam Seidbeyli on "Historical heritage in Azerbaijani education", head of the Institute Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, Professor Sayali Sadigova on "Language issues in the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic", head of the Institute of Literature, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Asif Rustamli on "Press period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, head of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History, Doctor of Philosophy on the history of Sabuhi Akhmedov on "State Attributes in the Period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Modern Period", head of the Academy of the Ministry of Emergencies, Major General, Ph.D. in Technology, Assistant Professor Panah Suleymanov on "Importance of ADR in the history of our statehood".
