In the collection of the Special Fund of ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History are kept numerous and various composite belts.
Belts are one of the most popular accessories of national clothes in Azerbaijan. Colorful belts that have a complex structure, along with a unique ethnic design reflect the status, age of the owner and the region in which he lived.
Currently, the collection of the fund holds more than 50 "Garabagh" belts, dating back to the XIX-XX centuries. Similar types of belts are assembled from boards of different shapes, consisting of two or four parts.
The most common motif among these belts is the double-headed eagle, often found in Turkic mythology.
The study of these belts is important from the point of view of studying Azerbaijani ethnography.
