Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

May 2, 2014 main building of ANAS will host opening ceremony of “Green treasure of Azerbaijan” exhibition by joint organization of ANAS Institute of Botany, Natural History Museum in Fribourg (Switzerland), Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI, UK) and NG Tornay Design Co. (Swiss).

The exhibition will present information about the 10 classic relic tree species of hyrcanian forests of Azerbaijan, and will showcase the special patterns that reflect the flora, biogeography and ecology of Azerbaijan.

Note that, the opening ceremony will be attended by about 15 delegations of 6 countries (Switzerland, UK, Italy, Greece, Georgia, China), as well as representatives of the embassies of several leading European countries in Azerbaijan.

It is expected the participation of representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, a number of government departments, members of the Presidium of ANAS, the heads of the relevant institutes of the academy . The event will also feature the president of ANAS Akif Alizadeh and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Azerbaijan Mr. Pascal Ebisher .

Note that the exhibition is carried out as a joint project of the Institute of Botany of ANAS and Natural History Museum in Fribourg.
