Azerbaijan-Italy International Archeological Expedition conducted researches in Ganja and Goranboy

Head of sector of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, PhD in history, associate professor Bakhtiyar Jalilov and head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Lorenzo deMedici International Italian Institute in Florence (Italy), Professor Nicola Laneri's international Azerbaijan-Italy archeological expedition started exploration in Goranboy.

The international expedition included representatives of the Italian Center for Ancient Mediterranean and Near East Studies, as well as experts from Germany and France on various archeometric areas.

The main objects of archaeological excavations were the Bronze Age Early Iron Age around the city of Ganja, and the first Bronze Age era discovered in Garadaghli village of Goranboy region.

After completing preliminary archeological researches in Ganja and Goranboy, the Italian co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Italy International Archeological Expedition, Professor Nikola Laneri met with director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Professor Maisa Rahimova and informed about the preliminary results of the research.

The Italian scientist particularly emphasized that in the archeology of the Kurgan-Aras culture problems, the monk seals have been regarded as the "phenomenon of Azerbaijan" for the first Bronze Age.

Professor Maisa Rahimova noted the importance of research conducted for Azerbaijan and the world archeology.

During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation.
