Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The 6th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA-2018) has started on July 11 with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT) and Applied Mathematics Institute of Baku State University.

About 250 scientists and researchers from around the world are attending the event.

Opening the conference, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade spoke about the dynamic development of information and communication technologies in the world. He noted that this direction is one of the priority areas for our country and is under constant attention of President Ilham Aliyev. The non-oil sector, including information and communication technologies and high technologies, is rapidly developing to ensure the country's sustainable development in line with the policies set by the head of state. A consistent work is being carried out to bring the modern information and communication technologies infrastructure in line with world standards.

It was noted that the "State Program for the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020" was approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 20, 2016. The program enlarges state, scientific, educational relations in the sphere of high technology, implementation of joint projects with Azerbaijani scientists and specialists abroad.

Noting that the Ministry closely cooperates with the leadership of ANAS and its relevant institutions, R. Guluzade expressed confidence that joint cooperation will make a significant contribution to the socio-economic and scientific-technological development of our country. He noted that the international journal "Applied and Computational Mathematics", published with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies, ranks 19th among 252 publications in the world for its impact factor.

Optimization and control are one of the most important and topical science areas in the world. this area is one of the leading directions in BSU rector of the Baku State University, academician Abel Maharramov underlined. Expressing his gratitude for the support, attention and care provided by the Azerbaijani state to development of science, A.Maharramov noted that this is why annual indexes of our country in international ratings have increased.

Director of the Baku State University Applied Mathematics Institute, academician Fikrat Aliyev spoke about the history and importance of the conference. He said that the conference held in Baku for the 3rd time already serves as a platform for sharing the opinions of researchers from academic and higher education institutions, as well as students, as well as discussing the latest scientific findings.

Then a congratulatory letter was read to the conference by renowned professor of the US University Tamer Basar. Ukrainian scientist, Professor Vladimir Larin and others spoke at the event and wished success to the conference.

It should be noted that at the two-day international event the broad discussion of scientific and theoretical results in industry and economy will be discussed.

Topics of the conference include: "Theory of Control", "Optimization", "Intelligent Systems", "Phase Control", "Network and Telecommunication", "Numerical and Computational Methods", "Mathematical Modeling and Simulation", "Applications in Industry and Economy" , "Application of optimization procedures in physical problems".
