Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Works on the history of the 19th century Ottoman history are preserved in the Rare Book Fund of the National History Museum of Azerbaijan. The author is the Russian diplomat, the orientalist K.Bazili, whose work is called "Очерки Константинополя".

The book was published in 1835 in St. Petersburg. Ethnographic and geographical records about the capital of the Ottoman Empire, Istanbul, as well as the description of the smaller Asian Peninsula and the peoples living there are reflected. The publication also provides information on the political situation in Istanbul from the first half of the 19th century and ongoing events in the region.

The book is of great importance in exploring the history of Istanbul.
