July 27 at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, a meeting was held between the director of the educational network of Azerbaijan (AzEduNet) Natig Yakhyaev, the executive director Renat Vitkalov and the director of sales and marketing Fariz Mustafayev.

Deputy Director for Technology, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rashid Alekperov, said that the AzScienceNet scientific computer network has great potential in integrating science and education in the country and noted that cooperation was established between ANAS and the Ministry of Education in this direction. He noted that along with the scientific research institutes of ANAS, the country's educational institutions also have the opportunity to use the services of the AzScienceNet Institute and the Data Center.

Speaking about the work done to integrate into the international scientific environment, the deputy director noted that for this purpose the institute joined the GEANT network, which serves all scientific and educational institutions in Europe. Representing our country in the GEANT association, as well as in its projects, AzScienceNet has established contacts on cooperation with more than 40 countries.

According to R. Alakparov, as a result of ensuring the integration between AzScienceNet and AzEduNet networks, scientists and specialists of higher educational institutions, as well as other educational institutions, doctoral candidates and dissidents were provided with a wide range of services provided by the GEANT network. He added that already 13 higher educational institutions of our country have joined the AzScienceNet network, and noted that work in this direction continues in other higher educational institutions. The scientist noted that measures have been taken to provide access to high-speed Internet in the GEANT network, use fiber-optic communication channels, provide virtual computing resources, use Cloud Computing and other services in higher educational institutions of our country.

Executive Director R.Vitkalov, who spoke further, let know that significant measures are being taken in our country in the field of ICT infrastructure development and informatization of the educational system, improving the quality of education through the introduction of modern information and communication technologies. He also noted the importance of establishing cooperation with GEANT and that the accession of GEANT through the AzScienceNet network plays an important role in enhancing the effectiveness of scientific research conducted in the educational institutions of Azerbaijan.

In the end, discussions were held, answers were given to many questions. An agreement was received to conduct in the near future trainings for information technology specialists in higher education institutions, on the use of services provided by the GEANT network.
