The settlement of Meydantepe is being studied in Nakhchivan

Ancient Nakhchivan archaeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has started archeological researches in the ancient settlement of Meydantepe in the Nakhchivanchay valley. Meydantepe city antique settlement, which covers four hectares, is located near the village of Nezarabad, on the edge of the Nakhchivan-Shahbuz highway.

The materials discovered during the research cover the fourth century BC - the third century of our era. During excavations conducted by archaeologists, four-storied buildings and numerous material and cultural samples, grasses, remains of a large cube were discovered.

The material and cultural samples found during archaeological investigations reflect the urban culture, craftsmanship and trade relations of Nakhchivan.
