The next meeting of ANAS Department of Earth Sciences was held at the Oil and Gas Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The event was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, academician-secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences, Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, members of the department, heads and employees of scientific institutions on September 28.

Opening the meeting with opening remarks, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov familiarized those present with the issues on the agenda.

At the event, head of the Theoretical and Applied Problems of Modern Drilling Department of the Oil and Gas Institute of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Galib Efendiyev spoke about the scientific foundations of the concept of "Intellectual Field" developed by the Institute of Oil and Gas and the Institute of Control Systems. He noted that in the world practice, the concept of “intellectual field” is understood as an automated control system for operations aimed at the continuous optimization of technological processes associated with the development of oil and gas fields. Noting that for this, along with a variety of tasks, it is necessary to develop models of deposits and technological processes, the scientist stressed that this is an absolutely new kind of management system. He added that this subsystem consists of three subsystems: information, mathematical and organizational support systems.

Corresponding member of ANAS reported that the first system provides for the receipt and use of information. He noted that the system consists of the following stages: obtaining information, collecting, processing, using and analyzing primary data, making decisions.

The scientist said that in the system of mathematical software mathematical methods, models, algorithms and programs form a single whole. He noted that the function of the information system of mathematical and software is to solve problems, as well as the normal operation of technical means. This includes methods for modeling technological processes, algorithms for constructing models and decision making, mathematical programming, mathematical statistics, reliability, methods of the theory of fuzzy sets, etc.

Galib Efendiyev said that, the system of organizational support includes the connection between employees in this field, as well as a set of methods and means of decision-making during the execution of technological processes.

The speaker put forward a number of proposals related to the preliminary work plan, which should be implemented in the future, and the stages of their implementation. After the speech, answers to questions were voiced and a corresponding resolution was adopted.

At the event, Deputy Director of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS for scientific work, corresponding member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov spoke in connection with the preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Institute. After discussing the issue, an appropriate decision was made.

The meeting considered the issue of introducing partial changes in the structure of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics. After the discussion, the department's decision was adopted to raise the petition to the Presidium on this issue.

In conclusion, some current issues were addressed.
