Finished International conference on "Azykh cave and migration flows in Azerbaijan"

The participants of the international forum devoted to the 50th anniversary of the discovery of a part of the jaw bone of a primitive man were on an archaeological trip to the Garaja paleolithic camp near Mingachevir.

Lead researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Ph.D. in History Azad Zeynalov, Chief Researcher of the Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Ph.D. in Geography Idris Idrisov and Chief Researcher of the Paleolithic Department of the History of Material Culture RAS, Ph.D. in history Sergey Kulakov told the participants about this camp.

The guests familiarized themselves with stone products and the fossilized remains of a million-year-old tree remains.

Then, Yevgeny Girya, chief researcher at the Department of Experimental Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. in History, conducted an experiment demonstrating the methods of making stone tools.

Then, the participants were read the final draft resolution of the conference.

The conference resolution unanimously agreed that, the Azykh cave camp is one of the main monuments of the early Paleolithic in the Caucasus, and the archeological work carried out in Azerbaijan is also highly appreciated. The resolution also proposes to hold an international conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founder of Paleolithic research in Azerbaijan, Professor Mammadali Huseynov in 2022.

In the Gabala Archaeological Center, participants were presented certificates of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography. In addition, the Association of Azerbaijan - Korean Cultural Exchange SEBA (Seoul-Baku) presented to the forum participants publications and videos reflecting the archaeological research conducted in Gabala.
