Institute of Petrochemical Processes of ANAS held International Scientific and Practical Conference "Oil Processing and Innovative Prospects for the Development of Oil and Chemistry" dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the outstanding chemist, State Prize Winner, Honored Worker of Science and Technology, academician Vahab Aliyev on October 9.
The goal of the international conference attended by well-known scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Egypt take part is to once again emphasize the role of Academician Vahab Aliyev in the development of petro chemistry and oil refining, as well as to determine current priorities.
Opening the meeting, director of the institute, academician Vagif Abbasov spoke about the life and work of an outstanding scientist and about his contribution to the development of chemistry. He said that, scientist is one of the 1st creators of science and production of oil refining in Azerbaijan. Under his leadership, the theoretical foundations of boiling technology were developed and applied to many chemical processes.
It was noted that, results of V.Aliyev’s scientific research were reflected in 755 scientific works, including 5 monographs, 350 copyright certificates and patents. Under his leadership, trained 7 doctors of science and 30 doctors of philosophy.
Further, head of the department of the Institute, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Leylufer Aliyeva delivered a paper on the life and work of academician Vahab Aliyev. Under his leadership, Azerbaijani scientists for the 1st time in the world developed the theoretical foundations of catalyst boiling technology and introduced a number of technological processes and improvements that are of great importance for the refining industry.
Then, was demonstrated a video about academician V.Aliyev’s life and activity.
At the conference, academicians Maharram Mammadyarov, Musa Rustamov and the speakers shared their memories on outstanding scientist and told about his contribution to Azerbaijani science.
The event will include 4 plenary, 80 oral and 100 stand-reports on “Oil refining and promising areas of petro chemistry”, “Green chemistry and gas chemistry”, “Nanotechnologies and promising nanomaterials in petro chemistry”, “Innovative synthesis and technologies in oligomer chemistry".
The international forum will end on October 10.
