The author of the publication is Researcher of the Department of Globalization and International Economic Relations of the Institute of Economy Tabriz Yadigarov. Scientific editors of the publication are Doctor of Economy Sciences Fuad Ganbarov and PhD in Economy Sciences Alaskar Sariyev, reviewers are Professors Arif Shakaraliyev and Yashar Kalbiyev.

According to various sources, the history of the development of maritime transport in Azerbaijan from the 4th century to the present has been studied, and the fundamentals of the economy of maritime transport have been interpreted. In addition, the role of sea transport in foreign economic relations, the legal framework, the current situation, the impact of sea transport on trade, problems of sea transport in the extraction and transportation of oil and gas and ways to overcome them.

In accordance with the Strategic Roadmap, the existing problems of maritime transport were investigated and ways of solving them were studied in order to obtain high returns from the maritime transport along the Trans-Caspian route.

The publication is supposed to be used in higher education institutions, in the programs of the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a number of institutions, as well as in the field of studying the marine economy.
