Scientific seminar on computer chemistry was held at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of ANAS

At the Institute of Chemistry of Additives in  (IAC) named after acad. A.Guliyev of ANAS was held the seminar on the results of joint international research conducted by young specialists of this scientific institution jointly with Center of Computational Research of Buffalo University of USA.

Opening the event, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the IAC, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor Mirza Movsumzade emphasized the importance of the scientific seminar on the study of theoretical and experimental mechanism of chemical reactions with computer calculation and noted that significant successes have been achieved as a result of the research.

Then PhD in chemistry, assistant professor Afsun Sujayev, head of the Laboratory of the “Synthesis of Additives and Theoretical Foundations of Impacts” of the IAC, delivered a lecture. A. Sukayev informed about the experimental reactions carried out by his research team, the physical and chemical properties of the new substances and their functional properties.

A. Sujayev said that in the multicomponent condensing reactions, at least 3-4 components had a mutual interaction at one stage. It is possible to solve this problem by examining the experimental-theoretical mechanism of chemical reactions with computer, quantum chemistry. From this point of view, we have made significant efforts to conduct joint researches with the only specialist in computer-chemical calculations in the US Emori and Buffalo University Computer Research Centers, specialist of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes scientific worker, associate professor Yusif Abdullayev, the speaker underlined.

The speaker added that the paramount pharmacological effects of the reagents were studied at Atatürk University in Turkey and it was determined that they had antidiabetic and antioxinergic effects. A.Sujayev said that the important results will be published in the journal "Pharmocological Reports", which is included in the well-known "Elsever" publishing house.

Then, the head of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Baku Engineering University, leading researcher of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of ANAS, Associate Professor Yusif Abdullayev said that theoretical researches were conducted in accordance with experimental results in this direction, mechanism of reaction, catalyst choice, catalytic effect, concrete in the form of isomeric formations. Y.Abdullayev noted that this is mainly due to the fact that the computer clusters are loaded with many programs and running in parallel to processors in a relatively short space of time, which can take long hours, years in normal computers.

They exchanged views on questions and answers on both topics.

The event was attended by Deputy Director of Scientific Research Department, Professor M.Movsumzade, Scientific Secretary, Ph.D. in chemistry Mehpara Safarova, senior scientific researches - Ph.D. in chemistry Sh.Aliyev and Doctor in chemistry O. Nabiyev praised the importance of the research and underlined the importance of expanding research in this area.
