"Glossary of linguistic terms" compiled by chief department of Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, Professor Sayali Sadigova, PhDs on Philology - Natavan Huseynova, Irada Abdullayeva, Svetlana Novruzova and Shabnem Hasanli-Garibova has been presented.
The event, which took place at the Electronic Hall of the Literature Institute, was opened by Vice President of ANAS, acad. Isa Habibbayli. Practical measures have been taken to protect the purity of the Azerbaijani language and improve the use of the state language. On January 12, 2004, the head of the state signed an Order on " On the publishing of mass media in Latin alphabet in Azerbaijani language", on April 9, 2013, the "State Program on the Use of Azerbaijani in the Globalization Conditions and Use of Linguistics in the Country" adopted, academician underlined.
The Decree of November 1, 2018, "On measures to protect the purity of the Azerbaijani language and improve the use of the state language," called the logical continuation of a consistent policy pursued for the state language in our independent country, the speaker added.
He said that the creation of new linguistic fields necessitated the collection of terms in this direction, their systemization and the creation of the "Dictionary of Expository Linguistic Terms". The vice president of ANAS said that dictionary is a product of many years' research of the staff of the Linguistic Institute.
Speaking at the event, director of the Institute of Linguistics, academician Mohsun Nagisoylu, deputy director on scientific affairs, PhD in philology Baba Maharramli, professors Sayali Sadigova, Ismayil Mammadli, Ismayil Kazimov and Gazanfar Kazimov touched upon the importance of book's publication in preservation of purity of Azerbaijani language . It was noted that the key words in the dictionary are alphabetically presented in large and black fonts, including the spelling of terms in accordance with the spelling norms of our modern literary language. In addition, in the context of the drafting of the dictionary - terms derived from the language's internal capabilities.
