Director of ANAS Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov conducted a master class for students of the History faculty of Baku State University on “Historical science of Azerbaijan: yesterday, today, tomorrow”.

Yagub Mahmudov, noting that the Azerbaijani people establish empires and ruled neighboring nations, said: “Azerbaijan has a five thousand year statehood history. The oldest history of the region’s statehood belongs to us”.

Addressing the Azerbaijani youth, academician said: “Who does not know his ancestry, who does not know his history, is doomed to death. And the people who know their history are invincible”. 

Historian stressed: “Today, the Institute of History, which actively participates in the information war against the occupation policy of Armenia, along with conducting scientific research on the basis of decrees and orders of President Ilham Aliyev, also implements the project “Let's save the memory of our historical personalities”.

Yagub Mahmudov noted: “The falsified history was presented to the Azerbaijani people in Soviet times. Allegedly, the indigenous population of the South Caucasus, Armenians are the oldest local population, but we moved here from Altai. To break such myths, we have published books on the history of the Iravan Khanate and denouncing the lies of the fictional theory “Great Armenia”, some of them have been translated into foreign languages and distributed in foreign countries. The book “Real history and fiction about“ Great Armenia” shows that, according to the original sources, Armenians moved to Asia Minor from the Balkan Peninsula, by origin they were related ethnos to the ancient Phrygians, they were not aboriginal people of Asia”.

In conclusion, scientist respondent the questions. Students were distributed publications of the Institute of History. Note that, the master classes are aimed to expand the scientific cooperation between ANAS and universities.
