A round table on "Problems of employment of persons with disabilities" was held at the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS, academician Nargiz Akhundova, Chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Mejlis Hadi Rajabli, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, as well as relevant state and NGO representatives attended the event.

Opening the meeting, Director of the Institute, Doctor of Law, Professor Aytan Mustafazadeh said that in recent years, issues related to the integration of people with disabilities into society and the solution of their social and domestic problems, as well as inclusive education are under state’s care. He noted that the Institute of Law and Human Rights keeps the issues of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities on a regular basis, conducts relevant research and examination of laws and takes action.

Then academician Nargiz Akhundova said that the change of attitude towards disabled people should start from the family. Individuals with physical disabilities should not be isolated from society and should be provided with all citizenship right, she added.

Hadi Rajabli, chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis, speaking at the meeting, said for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan's statehood that the minimum wage is adapted to the living standards, and the benefits to the families of martyrs have been increased.

He noted that the measures aimed at rehabilitation, vocational training and employment of persons with disabilities were monitored and practical steps were taken.

Then issues related to the employment problems of persons with disabilities, their social rights were discussed and a number of proposals were made.
