February 14 - An event dedicated to the International Book Donation Day was celebrated at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Press Council of Azerbaijan Mushfig Alasgarli, Member of the Board Azer Hasrat, Deputy Head of the Press and Information Office of ANAS Ulviyya Rzayeva, collective of CSL and other guests.

Leyla Imanova, director of CSL, PhD in Medicine, opened the event and spoke about the importance of this remarkable day. The book is the source of knowledge and the closest friend of the person, she said. The new building of CSL was opened in 2014 with the participation of the head of state and the president of ANAS. It promoted ancient history and rich culture of our country, gained achievements in various fields, expanded opportunities for use Azerbaijani language in information resources. The enterprise was awarded the Hungarian Order of the Golden Cross in 2018 and was a member of the UNESCO Working Group, she added.

Then the head of the International Relations Department of CSL Mubariz Goyushli made a presentation on the work done in 2018. He told about the expansion of the international relations of the library, as well as the activities carried out by mass media, cooperation relations with various media organizations, carried out measures and projects.

Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Mushfig Alasgarli and Member of the Board of Directors of the Board Azer Hasret thanked the CSL leadership for the organization of the event dedicated to the International Book Donation Day, saying that reading a book is a culture and wealth. The guests also highly appreciated the activities of the International and Public Relations Department, stressing the importance of organizing the work on the protection of information and media archival protection.

Ulviyya Rzayeva, deputy head of the Press and Information Office of the Presidium of ANAS, in her speech noted that since its creation in 2012, this initiative of the founder of the United States children's website has received worldwide support and has now assumed the character of an international celebration. U. Rzayeva noted the importance of instilling a love for books in the younger generation. Speaking about the role of information in a person’s life, she brought to the attention the statistical data of applications to the websites of institutes of the academy, as well as the information placed. According to her performance in 2018, more than 2 million applications were submitted to the websites of the Academy institutions, and more than 5,000 news items were posted. Only on the site elm.gov.az, 2 million applications were submitted and more than 3000 news were posted.

At the end of the event, books were donated to the event participants.
