Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

ANAS Institute of Information Technology held a meeting with the participation of Director of the "Millennium" project, Professor Jerome Glenn, organized by the Futurologists society of Azerbaijan on March 13.

Opening the event, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Director of the Institute, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that, the issues presented at the event are very  valid and important for our country. Speaking about the importance of the information technology area, the scientist stressed that, this area is trend of the future.

R.Alguliyev stressed that, the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence led to radical changes in society and leading countries of the world pays special attention to the development of this area.

Chairman of the Society of Futurologists of Azerbaijan, Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honour, France Reyhan Huseynova told on cooperation with the Institute of Information Technology, which always supports the Society of Futurologists of Azerbaijan.

According to her, the main purpose of creating of the society, which has been operating for 13 years is to determine future scientific trends and modern trends in Azerbaijan, as well as the integration of processes in this area in the world.

Then, an employee of the Department of High Technology and Startups of the Society of Futurologists of Azerbaijan, Kanan Habibov delivered a paper on the virtual project “Universe Sandbox” and an employee of this Department Elman Ahmadbayov on “The role of artificial intelligence in the development of the global economy”.

In conclusion, Professor Jerome Glenn delivered a paper on “Information Society and Futurology. Future through the eyes of futurologists”.

The work of the scientist reflects the problems of man and technology interaction. Professor noted that, technology has changed the mind of a person, in turn the mind of a person has changed the technology.

According to him, this interaction leads humanity to enter a new era - an era of technology with human thinking. This is the principle of the work of civilizations working with information and high technology, and creates an organic unity.

The speaker also spoke on the projections for the creation of some innovative technologies in the future, as well as about the functioning of the “Human Brain” Centers in a number of countries around the world and the work on the “Artificial Brain” projects.

Then, the scientist informed on “Millennium” project. He noted that, one of the projects is the preparation of laws at the state level, for the transition to artificial intelligence.
