ANAS Institute of Literature by the organization of ANAS Institute of the History of Science held scientific seminar on “Azerbaijani science in the modern era”, devoted to March 27 - the “Day of Science”.

Vice-President of ANAS, academician Habibbayli Isa spoke on the historical traditions of Azerbaijani science and its modern development. He noted that, in the times of Mirasadulla Mirgasimov serious steps towards development were made at the Academy, during the time of Yusif Mammadaliyev the ANAS became a prestigious institution, during the period of Hasan Abdullayev ANAS was experienced a golden period since its development.

Habibbayli Isa noted that, today, under the leadership of Academician Akif Alizadeh are being carried out a significant reforms at the Academy of Sciences, cooperation has been established with more than 50 countries of the world and was signed agreements.

Speaking about attention to science in our country, the scientist noted the Order of President Ilham Aliyev on the establishment of the “Day of Science” in the country as a vivid example of this attention.

Then, Director of the Institute of the History of Science, Doctor of History, Associate Professor Maryam Seyidbeyli delivered a paper on "The Formation and Organization of Science History".

Scientist noted that, the history of science in an interdisciplinary field was laid by the English philosopher, historian and writer Francis Bacon in the 16th century and was further developed by other scientists.

According to her, the organization of the history of science in Azerbaijan began with the creation of the Scientific Council on Natural Sciences and Technology in the 60s of the XX century.

During the seminar, a number of reports on the development of science, its methodology and education were also listened.
