On April 2, the Presidium of ANAS held a meeting with President of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Art (MASA), Professor Dragan Vukcevic. The main aim was to get acquainted with the main activities of ANAS and to sign a memorandum of cooperation.
Montenegrin Honorary Consul in Azerbaijan, Dr. Vugar Aliyev, vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, deputy director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Shahin Mustafayev, director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, correspondent member of ANAS Ertegin Salamzadeh and head of the department of relations with CIS countries of the International Relations Department, PhD in political sciences Ruslan Gasimov also attended the meeting.
Academician Akif Alizadeh, President of ANAS, made a presentation on the history of the establishment of the ANAS. He noted that in the years of activity, ANAS played an important role in the integration of science into the international arena, established a great scientific school and achieved historic achievements.
A.Alizadeh spoke about the services of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of ANAS.
He also told about the master's degree at ANAS since 2015. According to the scientist, the main purpose of this educational stage is to attract young people to the scientific environment, to further strengthen the integration of science and education.
Academician A.Alizade said that the scientific, scientific-organizational and scientific-pedagogical activity of the academicians in ANAS is one of the main issues of stimulation of their work. He noted that last year a group of scholars was given the scientific title "Professor of ANAS" for their high scientific results.
He also stressed the necessity of exchanging staff and experience with the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts and implementing joint projects.
Professor Dragan Vukcevic, speaking on his first visit to Azerbaijan, expressed his confidence that this meeting would have a positive impact on the future development of both organizations. The guest said that his organization is cooperating with various agencies and educational institutions around the world and memorandums have been signed with many academies.
Giving information about the history of the MASA, Professor said that the organization operated since 1971, where 45 active and correspondent members work in 4 scientific departments.
Speaking about historical friendly relations between Azerbaijan and his country, Vukcevic expressed his confidence that the document to be signed will contribute not only to the scientific institutions of the two countries but also to the establishment and strengthening of relations between the two countries.
He proposed to publish Azerbaijani scholars' articles in the MASA and to organize lessons on the development of science and art of modern Azerbaijan in Montenegro.
D. Vukcevic invited the president of ANAS to visit Montenegro together with the delegation and get acquainted with the academy.
At the meeting, discussions were also held on ethnography, sociological geology, physical and geological anthropology, humanitarian and other priority areas, and joint decisions on cooperation in relevant fields.
Then a memorandum of understanding was signed between academies of the two countries. The document was signed by Academician A.Alizadeh and Professor D. Vukcevic.
