The well-known Turkish geographer, seafarer and admiral Piri Reis’s, the world-renowned book “Kitabi Bahriyya” (“The Maritime Book”), was published in Russian at the Institute of Manuscripts named after Mohammad Fuzuli of ANAS.
An employee of the Institute of Manuscripts Tahira Aliyeva translated the book from the ancient Ottoman language to Russian. The design of the book and the "Preface" belongs to T. Aliyeva, the scientific editor is Doctor of Philology, Professor Pasha Karimov.
Written in 1521, "Kitabi Bahriyya" consists of notes by Piri Reis on the maritime activity and the places he sees. The maps of Piri Reis have also been added to the book.
"Kitabi Bahriyya" is a valuable source for historians, geographers and sailors.
