Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The scientific conference devoted to the 90th anniversary of the prominent linguist, Honored Scientist, Professor Yusif Seyidov was held at the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of Nakhchivan Division of ANAS.

The event was opened by the director of the institute, correspondent member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev and informed about life and creative activity of Y.Seyidov. He noted that the scientist studied at the Nakhchivan Teachers Institute in 1944-1946 and continued study at the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University in 1947-1952.

Speaking about S. Seyidov's work, A.Guliyev informed that the prominent scientist was accepted to the position of the teacher of the chair of the Azerbaijan linguistics at the Baku State University in 1956, and since 1965 he was the head of the chair at BSU.

He also recalled that the scientist defended his PhD thesis in 1955 and his doctoral dissertations in 1965. At the same time, the professor said that he wrote valuable works and textbooks on grammar, language problems and research of Azerbaijani language.
