Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The scientific session devoted to the 650th anniversary of prominent Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi has been held at the Institute of Literature named after N.Ganjavi of ANAS.

An exhibition of works dedicated to Nasimi's creativity was also organized within the session.

The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli. The director of the institute stated the president’s decree about declaring 2019 as "Nasimi year”.

According to the orders of the President, scientific conferences, scientific sessions were held by scientific institutions and organizations included in the Humanitarian Sciences Department of ANAS, as well as the participation of Azerbaijani scholars in the events dedicated to a poet in Serbia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries, he said. He informed the event participants that the closing event dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Imadaddin Nasimi will take place in November this year.

He noted that the 600th anniversary of the poet was celebrated by UNESCO, the monument was erected in Baku and the film “Nasimi” has been shot.

The vice-president of ANAS emphasized the necessity of studying the work of the writer in the light of independence and said that the monograph "Great Azerbaijan poet Imadaddin Nasimi" was prepared by the Institute of Literature and published throughout the year.

Doctor of philological sciences Farida Azizova, doctor of philological sciences Mammad Aliyev, doctor of philological sciences, professor Imamverdi Hamidov, doctor of philological sciences, professor Mammad Aliyev and others made reports.
