The next meeting of the Department of Earth Sciences was held at the Museum of Natural History (MNH) of ANAS.
Vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, academician-secretary of the department, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, bureau members, deputy directors and scientific secretaries of relevant enterprises participated in the event.
Firstly, national leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov spoke about the activity of prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev in the field of state building in our country. He said that stability was ensured in the country during the rule of the great leader of modern Azerbaijan, many achievements were gained in economic, political, scientific, cultural and other spheres, and the "Contract of the Century", which played a special role in the development of our country was signed.
He recalled that the National Leader called the ANAS a national wealth of the Azerbaijani people and said it was necessary to preserve it, reminding that the nationwide leader had spent his first meeting with intellectuals after returning to power in the republic.
Later, a number of organizational issues were considered at the meeting. So, it was decided to hold outstanding geophysicist, physicist-mathematical sciences Tofig Ismayilzadeh's 90, prominent seismologist, correspondent member of ANAS Arif Hasanov’s-year jubilee. In addition, candidates for the competition for the title of "Professor of ANAS" have been defined. At the same time, the structure of the Republic Seismic Survey Center has been partially changed.
Then they visited zoological, paleontological and geological exhibits preserved in the Museum of Natural History. Director of MNH, PhD in Biology Tariyel Eybatov informed the participants about the scientific and enlightenment activity of the museum, its achievements, the work done to find and restore the exhibits.
In the end, a number of current issues were considered.
