Lev Eppelbaum, scientist of Azerbaijan's geophysics school, is 60

L.V. Eppelbaum was born on May 18, 1959 in the family of engineer-driller and teacher of Russian literature in Tbilisi. In 1964, he moved to Baku with his family and graduated secondary school № 225 in 1976. In 1977 he entered the Geophysics Department of the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute named after M. Azizbeyov (now Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University) and graduated in 1982.

The outstanding scientist defended his dissertation at the Geophysics Institute of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.

Has been working at the geophysics department of Israel's Tel Aviv University since 1991. In 2005, he became professor and began to lecture at the Tel-Aviv University on specific geophysical fields, special geophysics, archeological geophysics and marine geophysics.

Although famous scientist-geophysicist L.V.Eppelbaum has been working far-off from Azerbaijan for many years - in Israel, the feeling of love for the native land remains to this day. Eppelbaum has been cooperating with the Institute of Geology and Geophysics since 1988. One of the results of this collaboration is the publication of two-volume "Geosciences of Azerbaijan" in Springer (2016-2017), together with leading scientists of ANAS.

L.V.Eppelbaum's contribution to the development of science and education has always been highly appreciated. In 2017, he was honored as a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. In the same year, he was awarded the Honorary Medal of Science and Education for his achievements in the field of hydrodynamics and tectonics

L.V.Eppelbaum is an author of over 380 scientific works, including 9 books and more than 150 articles published in prestigious journals.

L.V.Eppelbaum is a member of more than 15 international journals and editorial staff and is the reviewer of approximately 70 leading journals. He is a member of a number of international scientific commissions.

This year, great geophysicist Lev Vilenovic Eppelbaum is 60. On the occasion of the jubilee, the We congratulate eminent scientist and wish him new achievements in the life, health and scientific work!
