A symposium on “National struggle and literature in the Turkic world” held

ANAS Central Scientific Library by organization of ANAS Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi held a symposium on “National struggle and literature in the Turkic world”.

ANAS Vice-president, Director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbayli opened the event, said that, the symposium is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolution for the Independence of Turkey.

He noted that, on May 19, 1919, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Turkey began the struggle against the allied states, which led to the liberation of the lost territories of the country, the construction of an independent republican type state.

The academician said that, fighting for independence, despite the many obstacles, the first democratic state in the East was the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Noting that, the big powers, who tried to prevent the national struggle of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the early twentieth century used Armenians for their affairs, but did not achieve anything, said I. Habibbayli.

Referring to the fraternal and friendly relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan, academician said that, relations between the two countries in the economic, political, scientific and cultural and other spheres are developing rapidly and today they are conducting joint military exercises in Nakhchivan.

Then, Ramazan Korkmaz was awarded the "The Scholar of the Year" by the Institute of Literature for his contribution to the development of literary and scientific relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Then, the head of the department of the Institute of Literature, Professor Badirkhan Ahmadov delivered a paper on “The National Struggle for Independence in Azerbaijani Poetry”. According to him, the struggle for national independence is widely reflected in both Azerbaijani and Turkish literature.

He said that, the young poets of that period, Muhammad Amin Yurdagul, Ahmad Javad, Jafar Jabbarli and Abdullah Shaig, supported the development of the national spirit in poetry dedicated to the Caucasian Islamic Army.

Further, the symposium continued its work by sectional meetings.
