The work done in Azerbaijan on the restoration of oil-polluted land had been praised

Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Research Center and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia held an international symposium in Moscow Region.

At the plenary session of the symposium, Director of ANAS Institute of Soil Science and Agro Chemistry, corresponding member Alovsat Guliyev delivered a paper on “Recultivation of oil-polluted soils on Absheron through subtropical plants”.

On the third day of the event, A.Guliyev met with the Director of the Institute of Physico-Chemical and Biological Problems of Soil Science, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Alekseyev to discuss the problem of oil pollution of the earth and their remidation. A.Guliyev informed on the work carried out in this area in Azerbaijan and said that, the problem concerns all the CIS countries.

Noting that 33.3 thousand hectares of the Absheron Peninsula consist of oil-polluted territories, A.Guliyev stressed that, the polluted lands in unclear form were distributed throughout the territory.

According to the scientist, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, “Azersu” OJSC, SOCAR and other organizations are conducting important measures to protect Absheron soils from oil waste and wastewater.

Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Physicochemical and Biological Problems of Soil Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor David Pinsky spoke about the significance of the experience of Azerbaijan in the field of fertilizing oil-polluted soils. Also, Alovsat Guliyev delivered a paper at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms after G.K.Skryabin.

During the symposium, it was decided that the relevant ANAS institutions, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan should cooperate on the issues discussed.

In conclusion, a protocol of cooperation was signed.
