Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On July 3, at the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov, held scientific session on the 90th anniversary of prominent orientalist, Honored Scientist, Doctor of Philology, Professor Rustam Aliyev.

Before the event, the staff of the Institute of Oriental Studies visited the grave of Rustam Aliyev in the Second Honorary Alley.

Opening the session, academician-secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, academician Nargiz Akhundova noted that Rustam Aliyev is one of the world-famous scholars of Oriental studies in Azerbaijan. He stressed that the life path of R. Aliyev is an example of every scientist and said he has made a great scientific heritage for future generations.

Academician-secretary of the Department of Humanities of ANAS, academician Teymur Karimli characterized Rustam Aliyev as an Azerbaijani scientist and said his services were invaluable in his work.

Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, who spoke on "Rustam Aliyev's life and main directions of scientific activity," said that world-renowned orientalist Rustam Aliyev is one of the brightest minds in the history of science and culture of the Azerbaijani people. G.Bakhshaliyeva emphasized that this prominent scientist in the Middle Ages, Iran, Azerbaijan, Arabic and Turkic philology, was the result of his talent, hard work and love of science, his research on Persian literature and research, textbooks and science studies.

Head of the Department of Iranian Philology of the Institute of Oriental Studies, PhD in philology Masiaga Mohammadi, the head of the Department of Literature of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, the Doctor of Philology, Professor Imamverdi Hamidov made reports at the event.

After the speeches, Rustem Aliyev's son Med Aliyev, living in Moscow, had a video interview with the event participants.

Later, academician Mohsun Naghysoylu, professors - Mehdi Kazimov, Vilayat Jafarov, Rahim Aliyev, Mahira Guliyeva, Shafag Alibeyli and Shahin Fazil shared memories about Rustam Aliyev.

His closest relative Ali Hasanov spoke on behalf of Rustam Aliyev's family and thanked the organizers of the event.
