“Nakhchivan Carpet weaving: Past and Present” monograph co-authored by the Director of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of ANAS Nakhchivan Division, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Safarli and Head of the Carpet Study Research Group, Ph.D. in History, associate professor Sara Hajiyeva was published.

The publication describes on the appearance the art of carpet weaving in Nakhchivan, the way of development and the current state of this art, also provides information on the patterns and ornaments depicted on carpets. In addition, the book contains the authors' research related to the development of the art of felting, weaving, dyeing, etc.

It should be noted that on April 9, 2018, Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov signed the Order “On Approval of the State Program for the Protection and Development of Carpet Art in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2018-2022” and an Action Plan was approved. At the same time, by the Degree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated July 25, 2018, the Carpet Study Research Group was established as part of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS.
