Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

As you know, Azerbaijan hosts 31st International Olympiad in Informaticsis (IOI). Boulevard Hotel held the 13th IOI Conference on August 6. The IOI Conference since 2007 is part of the standard IOI program.

Editor-in-chief of the journal “Olympiads in İnformatics” Valentina Dagiene opened the event spoke on the importance of the Olympics in Baku and brought the agenda of the conference to the participants.

Then, the executive director of the journal Mile Jovanov spoke on ties of journal with the conference and gave detailed information about the magazine. The journal was founded in 2007 at the initiative of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Vilnius University and the 31st International Olympiad in Informaticsis.

The publication of this international journal dedicated to the publication of research in all computer areas science, through Olympiads and other competitions is closely related to the annual scientific conference at the International Olympiad in Informatics.

Authors, who plan to attend the conference submit their articles to this journal. The 2019 edition of the journal contains articles by 200 authors from 50 countries.

During the conference, a number of reports were delivered on: Digital library, TLCS project, a children's programming marathon, computer science, computational thinking in K-12, second-generation algorithmic tools in Azerbaijan, software as a source for training and studying computers

In the second part of the conference a seminar on “Information and Computational Methods” was held for teachers.

Official delegations consisting of more than 600 pupils, teachers and experts from 88 countries and regions, including the Azerbaijani team have registered to participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics, which is being held in Azerbaijan for the first time.
