Caring for the development of science in the Autonomous Republic makes an invaluable contribution to the development of science, national intelligence and the growth of the scientific potential of this region. This is the result of the scientific potential available at Nakhchivan Division of Nakhchivan National Academy of Sciences.

These ideas were voiced at the event dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the establishment of ANAS Nakhchivan Division. Chairman of ANAS Nakhchivan Division, academician Ismail Hajiyev spoke on the historical development of the institution and the conditions created here.

He noted that, by the Order of the national leader Heydar Aliyev dated August 7, 2002, on the basis of the Nakhchivan Regional Scientific Center was established Nakhchivan Division, which operated since January 15, 2003.

According to the Order 6 research Institutes were established at ANAS Nakhchivan Division: Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology, the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, the Institute of Natural Resources, the Institute of Bioresources, the Batabat Astrophysical Observatory and the Manuscript Fund.

It was noted that, as a result of great concern by Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov 2 three-story buildings were allocated for the Nakhchivan Division. In 2005, the building of the Institute of Bioresources was commissioned and in 2010, the building of the Institute of Biochemical Research Laboratory. The Botanical Garden was also reconstructed, a new building was built for the astrophysical observatory. In 2010 journal “Izvestia” received an international index.

Since 2002, the Tusi Publishing House were equipped with modern equipment the Green Pharmacy, the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography, the Center for Distance Education, the office of information and communication technologies,  Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Institute of Natural Resources with the necessary software were founded at the Division.

Head of the Scientific and Organizational Department, PhD in Agricultural Sciences Orkhan Bagirov said that, consistent measures have been taken to increase human resources. Now, 259 staff work at the Division, including 98 researchers.

Speaking on fundamental publications, Orkhan Bagirov said that, over the period of activity 208 monographs, 200 books, 26 teaching materials, 8034 scientific articles and conference materials, 209 abstracts, 21 maps were published. Along with all this, employees denied articles in the English and Russian languages of the Wikipedia encyclopedia, reflecting the statements of Armenians on the history of Nakhchivan; in the encyclopedia 180 new articles on Nakhchivan have been published in the Azerbaijani language. Over the past period by employees of the Division were prepared 5 recommendations, 48 booklets and received 28 patents. Over the period of their activity, the Division’s employees won 23 grant projects, 4 of which are international.

More than 1200 historical and cultural monuments were discovered and certified in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The speaker also gave detailed information on research and scientific results obtained over the past period. It was also noted that, for the first time as part of the Interactive Open Lesson project, were organized interactive open lessons of ANAS Nakhchivan Division in secondary schools of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

It was noted that, Division held various international symposiums and conferences for expanding international relations. Employees took part at 439 international scientific symposiums and conferences. Effective scientific activity has always been highly appreciated by our state and staff has been awarded high state awards and honorary titles.

Director of the Institute of Bioresources, academician Tariyel Talibov, director of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, corresponding member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev and Director of the Manuscript Fund, Doctor of Philology Farman Khalilov spoke on the successful activities of the Division.
