Azerbaijani scientists participated in an international conference in Samarkand

An international conference on “Preserving tangible and intangible heritage: current problems and strategies to solve them” was held in Samarkand under the auspices of UNESCO.

Among conference participants also was a delegation led by Deputy Director of ANAS Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Shahin Mustafayev.

Opening the conference, Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov spoke on the ongoing work in the country to protect tangible and intangible cultural heritage. He read out to the participants a congratulatory letter from the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Further, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azule noted that, Uzbekistan played a significant role in preserving tangible and intangible values.

At the conference, which was attended by orientalists and experts from more than 30 countries of the world, topics of urban studies, urban planning, carrying out infrastructure and other works in historical centers, the procedure for applying new technological processes in them, etc.

Azerbaijani scientists also delivered papers at the conference.
