ANAS Institute of Dendrology held a literary-musical event dedicated to the 124 anniversary of the outstanding Russian poet Sergei Yesenin on October 3.
The event, organized by ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy in our country, Director of the Institute of Dendrology, corresponding member of ANAS Tofig Mammadov, employees of the Russian-Azerbaijani Center for Literary Relations after Sergei Yesenin and secondary school students.
Opening the ceremony, Museum researcher Jeyran Ganbarli noted that, Sergei Yesenin poetry festival held in Mardakan in 1972 is tradition. In 1975 by the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature was opened the Museum of Sergei Yesenin in Mardakan.
The exposition of the House-Museum reflects the life and activity the Moscow and St. Petersburg periods of his life. But special attention is paid to the Baku period of his life. The speaker also noted that, Yesenin’s manuscripts were presented to the museum by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan, Mr. Vladimir Dorokhin are a valuable exhibit of the Museum.
Noting that, in 2008, by the initiative of Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, academician Rafael Huseynov the House Museum was turned into the Russian-Azerbaijani literary center after Sergei Yesenin, she added that, today the center plays an important role in strengthening scientific, cultural and friendly relations between the two countries.
Later, representatives of the Russian Embassy to Azerbaijan Viktor Korobov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center Galina Manafova, member of the Union of Writers of Russia Eldar Ahadov, vice president of the “Erzia” International Cultural Foundation Elena Butrova and others spoke.
